I saw the most AMAZING post from LOST IN A STORY with the most AMAZING idea to help cut down my ridiculously large TBR! Thank you so much for creating this post!!
THIS IS HOW IT WORKS: (straight from original post)
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
Every week I will be going through 10 books on my Goodreads TBR and purging as many as I feel comfortable with. Most likely these posts will go up on a Wednesday. Currently I have 300 to go through and this number is always being added to, so hopefully this will help a lot. Here are my next ten books!
THE BOOKS:
LOCK AND KEY BY SARAH DESSEN
Spoiler alert anything I haven’t read by Sarah on this list will automatically be kept. 🙂
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
JUST LISTEN BY SARAH DESSEN
See above blurb for the answer to this one. haha
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE BY JANDY NELSON
I feel like this book will be read soon, I’ve been in the mood for a bit of heartbreaking lately.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
LAST NIGHT I SANG TO THE MONSTER BENJAMIN ALIRE SAENZ
I’m going to keep this on my list purely based on my love for the author.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
WHAT MY MOTHER DOESN’T KNOW BY SONYA SONES
After reading a few reviews on this book, and seeing a lot of mentions of the word immature I think I’ll pass on this one for the time being.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
TWISTED BY LAURIE HALSE ANDERSON
Let’s be honest I read a book by this author and it wasn’t my cup of tea, so for now I’m gonna say see you later….
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
DEAR BULLY: SEVENTY AUTHORS TELL THEIR STORY BY MEGAN KELLEY HALL
I definitely want to get to this book at some point soon.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
FRACTURE BY MEGAN MIRANDA
This book has just been on my TBR list so long I’m sick of looking at the title. lol
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
THROUGH THE EVER NIGHT BY VERONICA ROSSI
I loved the first book in this series (Under the Never Sky), but I haven’t been in much of a dystopian reads type of book.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
UNWELL BY LESLIE LIPTON
This book sounds immensely informative, but I don’t see myself wanting to read books about characters with eating disorders anytime soon.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
This week I chose to keep only 5/10 books. I feel like these first few weeks will be easiest, since I added these books years ago in some cases lol. Hopefully I can keep up this momentum.
If you like this idea please go to LOST IN A STORY’S blog post, show some love, and let her know you are joining in!!

I’m so glad I found this meme it’s so prefect for us with huge TBR’s lol

Yeah mine is currently over 500 on Goodreads so I think I would benefit from doing this. If I can find the time, I just might. Probably not every week though.

even sporadically doing it will get the TBR down like maybe a day when you are having a hard time coming up with a blog post 🙂

Oooh this is an interesting idea! I have WAYYY too many on my Goodreads TBR (like 800+), but granted I read for a variety of reasons (such as for teaching–more for potential students than myself) and some I have just bookmarked to watch because they aren’t out yet or it was recommended and isn’t well-known so I don’t want to forget. Some I also own, so I don’t want to remove them. But I can sure try something like this!

You totally should it’s really fun to see my GR TBR going down 🙂

Yeah, I just removed Ready Player One because it was only there because so many people recommended it constantly, but I’ve read about some of the sexism and transphobia and I think I can spend my time on something else

This is such an awesome idea! I had this meme bookmarked a while back but then completely forgot about it. I’m definitely going to be starting this on the blog soon. My TBR is out of control! haha

This is a great idea but it’s such an addiction for me. I don’t think it could.

Seems like a pretty good idea, I just wish I had the time to devote my attention to a single book hah
