I saw the most AMAZING post from LOST IN A STORY with the most AMAZING idea to help cut down my ridiculously large TBR! Thank you so much for creating this post!!
THIS IS HOW IT WORKS: (straight from original post)
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
Every week I will be going through 10 books on my Goodreads TBR and purging as many as I feel comfortable with. Most likely these posts will go up on a Wednesday. Currently I have 300 to go through and this number is always being added to, so hopefully this will help a lot. Here are my next ten books!
THE BOOKS:
The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
I’m just not interested in this type of story anymore.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloane
I don’t see myself getting to this anytime soon.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
The Iron King by Julie Kagawa
Maybe at some point I will get to this, but not soon.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
I do want to get to this one, I won’t say soon though.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
Suicide Note by Teresa Mummert
I’m not interested in this book anymore.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
Please Ignore Vera Dietz by A.S. King
I do want to read a book by A.S. King, but maybe another one would interest me more.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
An Abundance of Katherines by John Green
I love John Green and definitely want to get to this one.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
The Bermudez Triangle by Maureen Johnson
I’m not feeling this book right now.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
Poison Study by Marie V. Snyder
I’ve heard so many great things about this series, I feel like I need to read it soon.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult
I love Jodi Picoult, and I want to read all of her books.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
This week I chose to keep only 4/10 books. This isn’t bad at all.
If you like this idea please go to LOST IN A STORY’S blog post, show some love, and let her know you are joining in!!
Seems like a good idea!

I’m not saying it was bad, but Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore wasn’t great. It was interesting, but kinda weird. Just my opinion, I don’t blame you for getting rid of that one.

I keep hearing mixed reviews on it lol

Pride & Prejudice is one of my all time favourites, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did when you get around to it!

I don’t blame you for getting rid of Mr Penumbra’s… I read it for school summer reading last year and it wasn’t anything impressive. tbh I found it pretty boring

I don’t blame you for saying goodbye to Penumbra! I tried to read about three years ago and I liked the first half, but then it quickly took a turn and I didn’t like it as much.

That seems like a good idea cause our tastes can change all the time!!! I really wanna read Pride and Prejudice myself x

Quite a few of these have been on my TBR before I decided to let them go lol. I’ve been dying to read Poison Study for the longest time but haven’t gotten around to it for one reason or another but hopefully I’ll pick it up soon! Also, I personally wasn’t a fan of An Abundance of Katherines but I hope you enjoy it!

I have started doing something similar to this, but since my TBR is so massive I am going over 30 books with each post and deciding which to keep and which to eliminate from my want to read list.
Good luck with cleaning up your TBR pile over the next several weeks.
