The Japanese word kawaii translates to “cute,” and this how-to book is chock-full of super-adorable images of tacos, sushi, smoothies, clouds, rainbows, cacti, doodle monsters, Christmas trees, lipsticks, teacups, and more for your adoration.

Popular kawaii artist Zainab Khan shows you how to draw 75 super-cute characters with simple step-by-step illustrations and instructions. She has also included fun search-and-find images and inspiration boards that show you how to give your characters different facial expressions and zany accessories.

Thanks to this crash course in Kawaii Doodle Class, soon you will be enhancing your notebooks, stationery, artwork, and more with your own unique kawaii world!

I used to buy KAWAII stickers on ETSY a lot, for use in my planner, bullet journal, and personal journals. I love the fact that they are so cute. This doodle book made it possible for me to start doodling KAWAII characters instead of buying stickers constantly. I feel like this is going to save me so much money in the long run.

This book has a wonderful variety of doodles ranging from adorable food and drinks, lovable nature, cheerful doodle monsters, everyday cute objects, to charming holiday decorations. The search & find puzzles that you can also color at the end of the book looks so fun and calming. I am in no way what I consider artistically inclined, yet found the direction very easy to follow. I took the advice given and sketched in pencil first so I could erase any mistakes.

I think this book is wonderful for anyone interested in learning how to doodle. The step by step directions are so easy to follow it doesn’t matter your artistic ability. If you are buying stickers, why not switch it up and learn a fun hobby while you are at it.

  1. I love Kawaii stuff. I am a bit of a cute fanatic. I may be putting this in my to buy cart ASAP. I have tried to learn to draw in any way, but I lack that artistic hand. I love to write though, so I guess it is a trade-off. I hope this book does save you some money from buying stickers! Great review!
