I saw the most AMAZING post from LOST IN A STORY with the most AMAZING idea to help cut down my ridiculously large TBR! Thank you so much for creating this post!!
THIS IS HOW IT WORKS: (straight from original post)
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
Every week I will be going through 10 books on my Goodreads TBR and purging as many as I feel comfortable with. Most likely these posts will go up on a Wednesday. Currently I have 300 to go through and this number is always being added to, so hopefully this will help a lot. Here are my next ten books!
THE BOOKS:
THE IRON KING BY JULIE KAGAWA
I’m not in the mood for this book at the moment.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
PRIDE AND PREJUDICE BY JANE AUSTEN
I do really want to read all of Jane Austen’s books.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
AN ABUNDANCE OF KATHERINES BY JOHN GREEN
I absolutely love John Green and want to read every one of his books.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
POISON STUDY BY MARIA V. SNYDER
I’ve heard so many good things about this series I do want to get to it.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
CONFINEMENT BY GABRIELLA MURRAY
This isn’t the type of book I’m into right now.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
THE STORYTELLER BY JODI PICOT
All of Jodi’s books that I haven’t read will continue to stay on this list.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
THE WRAP-UP LIST BY STEVEN ARNATSON
I honestly don’t even remember adding this one to my TBR.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
THE MOON AND MORE BY SARAH DESSEN
I love Sarah Dessen and want to read through all of her books.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
WHITE CAT BY HOLLY BLACK
This book sounds great but just not for me at the moment.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
THE REALM OF POSSIBILITY BY DAVID LEVIATHAN
I’m just not in the mood to read this one at the moment.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
This week I chose to keep only 5/10 books. This isn’t as much as I usually get rid of, but it’s still great progress. This week’
If you like this idea please go to LOST IN A STORY’S blog post, show some love, and let her know you are joining in!!
That is at least half that you got rid of this week. That is a good amount of progress.

This is an awesome TBR challenge. I do this about once a year with my physical books to weed them out and trade them in.

I like this idea. My TBR on GR is enormous so I may be doing it but only once a month or twice a year. I’m a lazy person 😂

I’ve been dying to read Poison Study because of all of the rave surrounding it. Hopefully it meets and exceeds our expectations!

This is an awesome idea. I already cut my Goodreads TBR from like 7,000 to 2,000 last year…and I should really cut it down more. I wish I was a faster reader.

Seeing all these posts inspired me to do my own version, but since my TBR had over 800 books on it, with each post I write up I go through 30 books from my list.

This is such a good idea! However, I just set up a new Goodreads account so I don’t have enough books for it yet. That will definitely change pretty soon though.

I don’t think I could do this 😣 I love all my books too much. Although I do want to read all of John Greens books aswell. ❤️

I love this because it hits on one key point – our interests are going to change and evolve and this allows you to address that.
You made some good choices here I believe!

It is good to cut off the ones that we may not be reading. I should do that too.

Yay for An Abundance of Katherines! It’s the only Green book I’ve read so far and loved it! I’m looking forward to reading Sarah Dessen and Pride & Prejudice is worth it – I just read it last year! Happy reading! 😀

Oh wow it’s one of the only I haven’t read (i think) lol Sarah Dessen is wonderful!!

I absolutely adore this! I had to do this to my own physical shelves this year. I had books I had for over a decade and never read. I said time to move on from them. This would greatly help some one in the same boat. May have to do it myself when I am ready to purge again!

It’s honestly so fun to see my TBR numbers continue to decrease (though I am adding some, not as many as I’m getting rid of) 😂

I’ve always wanted to read a Jane Austin book, never find the time to though haha x

I’m always afraid to get rid of books I think I might eventually read because I’m worried I’ll forget about them! Hence why my TBR is so long with a lot of recent or unreleased books

This is impressive willpower, I can’t do it no matter how hard I try!
