I saw the most AMAZING post from LOST IN A STORY with the most AMAZING idea to help cut down my ridiculously large TBR! Thank you so much for creating this post!!
THIS IS HOW IT WORKS: (straight from original post)
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
Every week I will be going through 10 books on my Goodreads TBR and purging as many as I feel comfortable with. Most likely these posts will go up on a Wednesday. Currently I have 300 to go through and this number is always being added to, so hopefully this will help a lot. Here are my next ten books!
THE BOOKS:
THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS BY M. R. CAREY
This book still intrigues me.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
AFTER WE WELL BY ANNA TODD
I got so annoyed with the relationship in the book, I think I’m done for now.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
THE CHRISTY MILLER COLLECTION VOLUME 1
I’m not in the mood for contemporary books at the moment.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
LOVE LIES BENEATH BY ELLEN HOPKINS
I love Ellen Hopkins and will be getting to this one.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
KETCHUP CLOUDS BY ANNABEL PITCHER
The synopsis of this one sounds too good to get rid of.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
AN EMBER IN THE ASHES BY SABAA TAHIR
I’m not in the mood for this one anymore.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
THE REST OF US JUST LIVE HERE BY PATRICK NESS
Patrick Ness is so talented I need to read this.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
OFF THE PAGE BY JODI PICOT AND SAMANTHA VAN LEER
Oh look, another Jodi Picoult book I will be keeping.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
MAYBE SOMEDAY BY COLLEEN HOOVER
I do want to read Colleen Hoover, but I’m pretty sure I have other books of hers on here I would like to get to first.
THE JUDGMENT: BYE
THE LIFE-CHANGING MAGIC OF TIDYING UP BY MARIE KONDO
I love this one, I read some and definitely want to read the whole thing.
THE JUDGMENT: KEEP
This week I chose to keep only 6/10 books. Same as last week, not too bad.
If you like this idea please go to LOST IN A STORY’S blog post, show some love, and let her know you are joining in!!
I had a love hate feel with Girl with All the Gifts but it’s worth keeping for sure.

I buy way too many books, so my TBR shelf is slightly heavier, because I feel like I have to read them all! So I start most of them and then decide whether I want to finish them or return them for a refund. The problem is, I have lots of books I read only through 10%! It doesn’t bother me much, because often you learn quite a lot from a nonfiction book if you read 10% 🙂 Fiction is trickier, because I forget the names of the characters and what I learned in the story. So I try to go back and finish some of them while the memories are still fresh, and then when I come back to the ones I forget about, I read the beginning again 🙂

That’s pretty smart. I have a hard time not finishing a book once I start it lol

What is this book by Ellen Hopkins and why have I not heard of it before?! I’m flabbergasted. I thought I knew every book she’s written. Who am I even more?! Now I’ve got to rethink my total existence. Okay, maybe a little dramatic, but for real. I’m upset I haven’t heard of this one before.

Yeah, I just looked it up on goodreads. I passed on it bc it was romance 😂 I mainly just stick with her YA books.

Love Lies Beneath was a really good book. It was also awesome to see Ellen Hopkins outside her poetry genre!
Off The Page is also a really cute read! 🙂

I haven’t heard a lot of people talking about the Girl With All the Gifts, but what I have heard is all good stuff! I’m been fighting with myself over the movie. Wait to watch, or just go ahead and watch?

It’s been SUPER hard. Especially since I usually sit down to a zombie movie on Halloween once trick or treaters are done!

I love this meme! I don’t want to turn you off from reading it, but The Girl with All the Gifts disappointed the crap out of me…it starts out SO WELL and then takes a dive. But, I think you should totally give it a try and judge for yourself – I hope you love it!
