MY GOODREADS RATING 5/5 STARS

GOODREADS SYNOPSIS:

Emmett Atwater isn’t just leaving Detroit; he’s leaving Earth. Why the Babel Corporation recruited him is a mystery, but the number of zeroes on their contract has him boarding their lightship and hoping to return to Earth with enough money to take care of his family.

Forever.

Before long, Emmett discovers that he is one of ten recruits, all of whom have troubled pasts and are a long way from home. Now each recruit must earn the right to travel down to the planet of Eden—a planet that Babel has kept hidden—where they will mine a substance called Nyxia that has quietly become the most valuable material in the universe.

But Babel’s ship is full of secrets. And Emmett will face the ultimate choice: win the fortune at any cost, or find a way to fight that won’t forever compromise what it means to be human.

MY THOUGHTS:

The first chapter does an amazing job of dragging you right into the story. The book was hard to put down, I was immersed in the story from start to finish. I found that the descriptions of Genesis 11 were so real I felt like I was on the ship myself. The twists were completely unexpected and brought so much more action that I though was possible.

Emmett was a strong character, his personality was big and he was determined in everything he did. The bonds formed (both good and bad) between participants were strong and extremely realistic. I really enjoyed the character dynamics throughout the whole story. Each character was so different it brought so much to the story.

If you are looking for a different type of space story this is where you want to be. If you want a good start into this genre, you have it here as well. I would recommend this one to anyone and everyone, I loved it that much! I’m so glad I read an amazing review by my friend Danielle, which is the reason I picked this one up in the first place!
