Meet Daisy Winters. She’s an offbeat sixteen-year-old Floridian with mermaid-red hair; a part time job at a bootleg Walmart, and a perfect older sister who’s nearly engaged to the Crown Prince of Scotland. Daisy has no desire to live in the spotlight, but relentless tabloid attention forces her to join Ellie at the relative seclusion of the castle across the pond.
While the dashing young Miles has been appointed to teach Daisy the ropes of being regal, the prince’s roguish younger brother kicks up scandal wherever he goes, and tries his best to take Daisy along for the ride. The crown–and the intriguing Miles–might be trying to make Daisy into a lady . . . but Daisy may just rewrite the royal rulebook to suit herself.
I heard a lot of fuss about this book coming out and how the author is amazing, and I just NEED to read a book by her. The story fell flat for me, but luckily the writing style kept me going. I found the plot a bit predictable, but it all sort of went the way I’d wanted it to go, so that was ok in my opinion.
I will say I really enjoyed her portrayal of our main character, Daisy. Daisy was witty, and funny, and just overall charming in my opinion. I thought it was hilarious on how many outrageous situations she got herself into. The side characters definitely added to her personality and I just loved the love interest (no spoilers lol).
Overall it was a cute, quick read that kept me interested. I won’t be continuing the series, because I just don’t really care what’s going to happen next. I feel like it all fit into a nice little box with a bow on it at the end. I wasn’t invested in any of the storyline, except maybe the romance parts.
