GOODREADS SYNOPSIS:
Beware of the woods and the dark, dank deep.
He’ll follow you home, and he won’t let you sleep.
Who are the Sawkill Girls?
Marion: the new girl. Awkward and plain, steady and dependable. Weighed down by tragedy and hungry for love she’s sure she’ll never find.
Zoey: the pariah. Luckless and lonely, hurting but hiding it. Aching with grief and dreaming of vanished girls. Maybe she’s broken—or maybe everyone else is.
Val: the queen bee. Gorgeous and privileged, ruthless and regal. Words like silk and eyes like knives, a heart made of secrets and a mouth full of lies.
Their stories come together on the island of Sawkill Rock, where gleaming horses graze in rolling pastures and cold waves crash against black cliffs. Where kids whisper the legend of an insidious monster at parties and around campfires.
Where girls have been disappearing for decades, stolen away by a ravenous evil no one has dared to fight… until now.
MY THOUGHTS:
“Or maybe, legends about monsters weren’t so funny when girls were actually dying.” This quote sums up the book in the most perfect way possible. The whole book blew my mind in the best way. From the synopsis alone, I knew I was going to love the whole premise. I’m so glad I got the chance to read it during the fall, it was definitely a fall time, creepy book.
Our three main characters were very interesting. We have Marion who most definitely has som anxiety issues. They were probably brought up by the recent loss of her dad. Next we have Zoey who is the police chiefs daughter and is majorly obsessed with the death of the girls from Sawkill. This is because the most recent victim was one of her best friends. Then we have Val, she was the definitely the most intriguing to me she was the typical “rich girl” and she gave me the creeps right from the beginning of the book. To say I fell in love with the cast of characters in this book would be a major understatement.
This book was written with great attention to details, people and places. I felt like I was in Sawkill with these girls, following along on their personal journeys. I thought the headers to each of the chapters were very interesting and well thought up. This is definitely a book I would love to see adapted into a movie, made for TV movie, or a Netflix series!
Great review! I can’t wait to read this one!

Not for me, but glad you enjoyed it! I love books that can be turned into TV shows/movies, but half the time they don’t live up to the book.
